The original four-story building was built in 1907 by Wm. Volker & Company, a manufacturer of Venetian blinds. The structure evolved from the early 1900's with the addition of two more floors and its interrelationship with one of America's early trolley lines, which ran on the 14th Street viaduct next to the Building. The main entrance of the Building, facing Cherry Creek, was on the second floor, which allowed direct access to the 14th Street Trolley. The new entrance to the Wm. Volker Lofts will utilize one of the old freight doors, which was served by rail from the Union Station rail yards. The building was later used by the Weicker Moving & Storage Company and the Wagner Furniture Company. It was purchased in 1987 by the current developer.
